Day Eight- Here We Go

Am so far behind on these that I would usually give up! But I shall persevere…..

One thing you should know about me is that I am dreadful at lighting fires. Simply dreadful. I act as an extinguisher to the flames, it will just not happen for me. So at work last week my boss asked me to light the huge big open fire. When i said i couldn’t she told me in no uncertain terms to do it.

After lugging loads of big sticks and little sticks through the bar I began the task.

HERE WE GO…..

I did it! Perhaps it was my boss peering constantly at me, perhaps it was because I’ve suddenly found my inner Charmander.

Very satisfying…. I have since tried to light a fire at home to no avail.

This was all probably a FLUke…..

Day four – Role Model(s)

People who I look up to and aspire to be like….or just plain envy!

Joe Keenan & Niall Walsh

Joe Keenan & Niall Walsh

These two have brought so much joy to the people of Cavan. They founded the Café Sessions a bi-monthly night of entertainment held in a small café in Cavan town. They have introduced me to some of my favourite artists! I was there when Raglans first played the café, there when The Strypes were warming up for The Hot Sprockets…The Amazing Few serenaded me for my birthday and showered me with trinkets and i was there when The Strypes had their first headline gig and packed the place.  (Which reminds me i must do a blog about The Strypes…..I have meant to for the last year but i just don’t know where to start!!!)

The point is none of that would be possible without the work of Joe and Niall, What would i have to look forward every second Thursday!?

“I’m late! I’m late! For a very important date! No time to say hello, goodbye! I’m late! I’m late! I’m late!”

The title of this blog post comes from Alice in Wonderlands Mr.White Rabbit!

Why rabbits??

Why……

“White Rabbits!! White Rabbits!! its a brand new month!!”

This is a tradition in my family, my granda used to say it to us the first day of every month! We were told that it should be the first words you utter on the first day of a new month, maybe its lucky?

I know there is a saying
“A pinch and a punch for the first of the month”

I don’t know why granda chose rabbits… but i love its randomness, and it’s nicer than pinching or punching someone!

So it’s been a while since I blogged…I’m busy with trying to organize myself for college and moving out of my house in Dublin and various other half assed excuses!! Anyhow since I am otherwise occupied writing wise (dissertation–magazine—lazy) I am committing myself to a photo blog challenge for the month of February!

My little sister Edel who is currently living and teaching in South Korea has come up with an awesome list for photo ideas!!

Check out her blog and follow her travels here:
